📊 Learn more about your subscribers with surveys!
It’s probably useful to know a bit more about your subscribers: you can collect feedback about content they’re interested in, drive engagement, obtain demographic info, or just satisfy your own personal curiosity.
Whatever the reason is, Buttondown's first-party support for surveys makes it easy to send out quick one-question surveys to your subscribers. They answer from their browser (no proxying out to a third-party service), and you get the results in your inbox.
Here's an example of how we use surveys internally (how meta!) to better understand why people are sending their newsletters, with results from the past few weeks:
Based on these results, we do a bunch of things:
- Keep on top of trends of incoming users (for instance, the past few weeks many more new authors are trying to just target their friends and family compared to last year!)
- Set up automations to send over relevant case studies to folks based on their response, so we don't bother boring someone who's trying to build an audience with information about how big companies use Buttondown
- Most importantly, stay reminded of why people are using Buttondown in the first place.
Head over to the Settings page to turn on surveys and send out your first one in minutes. (Or go to the docs to get an in-depth guide.)
(And, as always, if you have any questions or feedback — whether they’re survey-related or not! — just respond to this message.)
