Updates from October
Reply tracking; automations; new email template!
Hello! I hope your October was lovely; I was fortunate enough to spend two weeks traveling in Paris and Tuscany for my honeymoon, and despite all of that I still managed to find time for shipping some great new changes to Buttondown.
Opt-in reply tracking
You can now use Buttondown to track your replies, so you can see them all grouped up by email/subscriber — making it easier to reply and stay organized.
Send automations based on email address
You can now build automations that trigger based on email addresses. This is useful for sending emails to specific people (folks joining from a specific company who you want to tailor specific messages to, or grant premium subscriptions to, or so on.)
A brand new email template
Lastly, we've launched a new email template (that's what you're seeing right now!) It's performant, pretty, and adds a bit of visual flair for those who are sick of a plaintext-heavy email.
What's next
November's poised to have a lot of great work coming down the hopper:
- A completely re-built Settings experience to make it less imposing/confusing for new users
- Better web analytics for your emails
- Support for embedded Mastodon + Bsky posts in emails
As always, my gratitude
Buttondown owes its existence to you, dear reader. I work on the things that make sense because enough users tell me about them; Buttondown has grown not because of any VC-subsidized marketing blitz but because people like it enough to tell other people to give it a shot.
If you think there's something that needs to be improved — or, even better, if there's just something you wish was improved — reply to this email because I want to hear more!
